The play is based on her 1937 novel Death on the Nile. It opened at Dundee Repertory Theatre under the title Hidden Horizon and eventually in at the Ambassadors Theatre in the West End in March 1946.

Murder on the Nile is a story about a newlywed millionairess who embarks on a honeymoon voyage down the Nile. During the voyage, she is found dead in a pool of blood, murdered on board. The story follows world-famous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as he investigates the murder. A multitude of memorable passengers are under scrutiny, all with a reason to kill!!!
